Residential Home Designers & Builders in Asheville NC
“We believe a home should be designed to provide comfort, inspire, and facilitate a happy life”
Earthtone Builders is a full service, award-winning residential design firm. We specialize in site-specific architecture, integrating buildings seamlessly into their settings for use by their owners and guests. Our eco-minded approach incorporates green principles and materials throughout the entire design process to ensure an efficient and sustainable finished product.
Having a home designed by a builder has many advantages, as there is no disconnect between the design and building. We understand materials, process, and structural needs on the front end, rather than as an afterthought for an engineer or another trade to figure out. As builders, we are also constantly aware of current construction costs which often steer design decisions all along the way.
Upon engagement for design services, we take inventory of client selected images, ideas, needs and wants in order to develop a truly one-of-a-kind home. We will typically present 2-3 initial options for clients to choose from in our first round. Once a path is selected we move on to the next phases of design development until a plan is finalized and complete. This includes floor plans, elevations, 3D renders, electrical plans, and anything else necessary for the clear and precise execution of building. The design process can take anywhere from 3 months to a year depending on the project. We encourage anyone wanting to build to take their time in design whether you are working with us or another design firm.
Our design engagement contracts are simple and straightforward. We bill by the hour, not by the square foot, nor based on the cost of the home. This ensures that our clients get exactly what they pay for. As a general rule of thumb though, the total cost of design typically falls in the $10-$15 per sqft range in our area. Example: 2000ft2 home = $20-30K – (this can be less for a very straightforward project and more for a higher end or site-challenged project)
